Vincent Eng is the CEO of the VENG Group and works closely with Red Fort. Vincent focuses on creative and strategic approaches to public policy and communications, including on executive and judicial branch nominations, technology and broadband, health, social justice, and matters of importance to the Asian American community. He is a nationally recognized expert on the senate confirmation process and he has led the lobbying and public relations efforts on the confirmation of nearly one hundred judicial and executive branch nominees. For over a decade, Vincent has been a leader in the Asian American and civil rights community. He served as the Deputy Director of the Asian American Justice Center, Co-Chair of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Committee on Language Rights, and on the steering committee of Americans for a Fair Chance.
Before founding The VENG Group, Vincent was at a government affairs firm in Washington, DC, where he led the Asian American practice. He also served as the managing editor of a large government clearinghouse of statistical information, where he directed editorial, production, acquisition, and marketing efforts.
Vincent started his career at the U.S. Department of Justice. He currently teaches at Columbia Law School and at Howard Law School. Vincent has written and edited over ten books on various legal and political matters—including a law school casebook on sentencing, sanctions, and corrections—and he has served as the editor-in-chief of the Almanac of the Executive Branch.
Hyun Lee is a Senior Advisor at Red Fort Strategies and is also a Partner at Bob J. Nash and Associates where she leads State and Local Affairs and multicultural strategies practices. In this capacity, Hyun oversees the company’s AAPI contracts and leads high-level community organizing, fundraising, and coalition building campaigns. She has advised organizations and campaigns at all levels from constituency outreach to coalition work to building political programs.
Previously, Ms. Lee worked as a Government Relations Consultant at James Lee Witt Associates where she was responsible for providing new business development, project management, policy analysis, client communications and building coalitions. She successfully identified more than 50 potential international business opportunities by conducting a business model analysis of global disaster management system.
Ms. Lee has extensive experience working in the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. As a Civic Engagement and Outreach Director at the Korean American Association of the Washington Metropolitan Area, and as a Public Affairs Director for Korean American Society of Virginia, she spearheads the organization’s outreach program and developed a multi-action and diversity agendas that included civic engagements, grassroots organizing and public education.
Hyun has worked on numerous Presidential and Gubernatorial campaigns where she helped increase the AAPI vote in many states. Ms. Lee also recently served on Virginia Governor-Elect Ralph Northam’s Transition Committee as a Policy Council member on Higher Education. Hyun was recently named a Virginia Emerging Leader by the statewide campaign in Virginia. Ms. Lee was previously a visiting scholar at George Mason University and she currently works an adjunct professor at I-Global University.
She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School with an MBA in Management and the Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts and Science with an MA in Government. She received her BA in International Affairs and East Asian Studies from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. Hyun is fluent in both Korean and English.
The founder of FOCUS Consulting and a Senior Advisor to Red Fort Strategies, Chris Lapetina is a political and legislative strategist and veteran campaign operative. Lapetina has an extensive background in campaign strategy and message creation. He has helped a wide range of clients form and manage grassroots coalitions and political independent expenditures. Lapetina has served as a strategist and a tactician for some of the most influential organizations in Washington, D.C. including: The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, The U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.
A founding partner of a Democratic survey research and political consulting firm Lapetina has also lectured numerous times on political campaigns and strategy. He has appeared as a panelist on the Study of the American Presidency, lectured at American University, was a guest speaker at political training sessions for the DNC, AIPAC and NJDC. Quoted often in the press, Lapetina’s observations have appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, the Times of London and the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal. A regular on T.V., Lapetina has appeared on Crossfire, CNBC, FNC, ITN, CBC and was a substitute co-host on MSNBC’s Equal Time. Originally from New York, Lapetina spent four years working for Governor Mario Cuomo. He is proud to be one of the few Democratic political consultants in Washington to have served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Democratic National Committee’s Advisory Council on Veterans.
Chase Kroll is the Founder and CEO of Kroll Global and a Senior Advisor to Red Fort Strategies. Mr. Kroll brings years of relevant and diversified experience, having run major political campaigns, legislative operations, and high-impact advocacy efforts in Washington, DC, for U.S. and international clients. Mr. Kroll has conducted numerous interviews, including print, radio, and television, and spoken at conferences related to politics and advocacy. Before founding Kroll Global, he was Vice President at Go BIG Media, an award-winning full-service media and consulting firm. In this role, Mr. Kroll ran successful advocacy and PR campaigns for a wide variety of clients, including top tier defense contractors, national trade associations, and non-profits. He was also head of media relations, regularly booking and training clients for national media interviews.
Before joining Go BIG, he was a senior associate and lobbyist at David Turch & Associates, where he oversaw an assorted portfolio of domestic and global entities. His background includes time on Capitol Hill as a legislative advisor for a high-profile Member of Congress, and leadership positions on several federal campaigns, including Campaign Manager of the most expensive winning House race in history. Mr. Kroll earned a Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. He is also a graduate of the Air Force Air Command and Staff College.
Mr. Mehta is Founder/President of Entry-India and Mehta Software Services (P) Ltd. He is India Partner to Red Fort Strategies. He specializes in setting up new companies and organizations, building on core management competence, and advising international organizations like APCO World Wide, Tekes, Finnode, Finpro, European Business Technology Center through his network, contacts and skills. Mr. Mehta has over 20 years of experience in the Industry and has strengths like Public Policy, Advocacy, Crisis Management, Strategy Formulation / Implementation and Government Relations. He has been responsible for setting up dozens of small and medium sized international companies in India. Mr. Mehta has also helped Indian companies in becoming global and has served clients in industries as diverse as IT / ITES, Embassies / Trade Commissions, private equity funds, think-tanks, clean tech, education, infrastructure, and healthcare. He has been working on Public Policy and Advocacy for Fortune 500 Companies and large organizations including advised CEO’s, governments, business associations and philanthropic organizations. Mr. Mehta has authored numerous reports, books, policy papers, and compendium. He was also previously Consulting Editor of Governance Today, a Leading Public Policy magazine in India and previously headed the HR division of Polaroid in India.
Jason Matechak is a Principal at Impresa Legal Group and a Senior Advisor to Red Fort Strategies. He focuses his practice on Government Contracts and Grants, Governance and Compliance and International Matters. He serves as the Director for the Center for International Procurement Law and Policy at the International Law Institute. He has served as the General Counsel of International Relief & Development, the Legal Advisor to the International Development Law Organization, and as a Partner in the Reed Smith Firm. As a civil servant, he served as a contract negotiator and legal reform officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development. He has served on the Council and Administration Committee, and as the Technology Officer, and Rule of Law Officer for the American Bar Association Section of International Law, and has served as a Delegate to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group on Public Procurement. He earned his Law Degree from the George Mason University School of Law, his Masters in International Commerce and Policy from the George Mason University School for Policy, Government, and International Affairs, and his Bachelors in Political Science, with minors in Russian Studies and Economics from James Madison University. He is a member of the Bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Fauser specializes in information management and business strategies for federal and commercial sector clients. Mr. Fauser is a Senior Advisor to Red Fort Strategies and the President of Calaburn, a small business providing professional consulting and support services to Federal and Commercial Clients. Over the last 20 years, Mr. Fauser has had increasing responsibility in developing and managing government related contracts. Along with Mr. Fauser’s responsibilities to support company growth and provide support to the company direction, vision, and goals, he also oversees several multi-year, federal-sector contracts. His responsibilities include all aspects of financial management, customer satisfaction, and relationship management. Mr. Fauser’s work history provides a complimentary blend of experience and provides him with a strong foundation for the development of organizational management and federal contract management.
Mr. Fauser has a successful history of entrepreneurship co-founding several businesses and unique innovative ventures, expanding his background and exposure to diverse business strategies. Mr. Fauser serves on the Tower Club of Tyson’s Corner Advisory Board of Governors along with several other advisory boards of small businesses working within both the federal sales market and the social and web technology arena. Mr. Fauser has a Bachelor of Science in Government Business from Shippensburg University and a Master Certificate in Government Contracting from George Washington University. He is an active member of his community and spends much of his free time as a mentor to several young entrepreneurs, and college students.
